The 92nd Street Y (92NY) is a cultural and community center where people all over the world connect through culture, arts, entertainment and conversation. 92NY’s Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact builds on this legacy by developing and scaling initiatives that enable change leaders to activate ripples of impact, such as through #GivingTuesday, the global day of giving that was born at the organization. By building the capacity and social connection of leaders who mobilize communities towards positive transformation, the Belfer Center harnesses 92NY’s commitment to community to create meaningful change.
GRANT PURPOSE & IMPACT
Amplify Her Foundation funding will support the Women inPower program, a dynamic, cross-sector fellowship program designed to advance high-potential women to the highest levels of leadership in their fields by providing them with mentorship, coaching, leadership training, and membership in an active community of their peers. The free, year-long program addresses gender bias and inequality at executive levels across sectors by providing around 30 women-identifying fellows who are 3-5 years from the C-suite or equivalent, with the training and community to help them serve as barrier-breaking leaders. Through its social impact focus, WiP helps ensure that as alumnae rise to the highest levels of leadership, they continue to elevate other women, promoting a positive ripple effect for gender equity and inclusivity within workplaces and society.
WiP is differentiated not only by its cross-sector focus, which pools talented women from corporate, nonprofit, and government backgrounds, but also by its emphasis on social impact. Fellows are encouraged to serve as barrier-breaking leaders within their organizations and to understand that as leaders, it is their responsibility to support everyone around them and serve as role models for the next generation of underrepresented leaders. As fellows rise to executive positions, they will be empowered to send the ladder back down to help the next generation of women leaders rise to power.
The Women inPower program will provide 30 New York City-based, senior level women across sectors with the resources they need to achieve the highest levels of leadership through one-on-one mentorship, leadership training, and membership in an active community of peers. At least 30% of fellows will receive promotions, obtain salary increases, or start new leadership roles during the fellowship year.
