MISSION 

The Lower Eastside Girls Club supports young women and gender-expansive youth of color throughout New York City in leveraging their inner power to shape a better future for themselves, their community, and the world. As an innovative learning hub, the Lower Eastside Girls Club models practices of community resilience and self-reliance. By championing young people and channeling their curiosity and creative energy, they are transforming our world into one of  “Joy. Power. Possibility.”

 
 

GRANT PURPOSE & IMPACT

Amplify Her Foundation funding will support the Lower Eastside Girls Club’s innovative Alumni Leadership Program, an initiative that expands the Lower Eastside Girls Club ’s long-standing commitment to fostering leadership and personal development in its members. As an extension of its highly successful afterschool programs, this pilot initiative is designed to help recent alumni transition into adulthood with the skills, confidence, and networks necessary to thrive in both their careers and personal lives. The program will initially engage five recent alumni as part-time Program Assistants for one year, offering them an immersive experience that blends leadership development with community service and career preparation.

These Program Assistants will participate in tailored professional development workshops designed to enhance their career readiness, complemented by personal mentorship from the Lower Eastside Girls Club staff, who will guide them through their early career journeys, helping them navigate challenges and identify growth opportunities.

A vital component of the program will be the opportunity for Program Assistants to take an active role in shaping the future of the Lower Eastside Girls Club itself, by developing and delivering new curricula for the Lower Eastside Girls Club’s after school programs.
