New Women New Yorkers aims to unlock the untapped potential of immigrant women. Their primary objective is to provide immigrant women with the necessary tools and resources to achieve success in the workforce. They do this through a combination of supportive programs, workforce development initiatives, and by fostering a welcoming community.
GRANT PURPOSE & IMPACT
Amplify Her Foundation funding will support New Women New Yorker’s general operating and innovative year-round programming in three key areas: workforce development, community education and support, and storytelling. These programs aim to support participants in transitioning to quality employment, provide essential knowledge and resources for navigating rights, create a safe and inclusive space for building community, and amplify the voices and stories of immigrant women to foster confidence and a stronger sense of self.
New Women New Yorker’s three workforce development programs include LEAD, We Speak We LEAD, and Bridge to LEAD – to support participants in transitioning to quality employment and achieving self-sufficiency, independence, and fulfillment.
Through community education workshops, community mixers, community calls, and a moms support group, NWNY also provides essential knowledge and resources for immigrant women to navigate their rights and with a safe, inclusive space to build community and create collective support and strength for reclaiming their role in society
Finally, their storytelling programming, including their Immigrant Women Storytelling Group, Writing the Self, and Real People. Real Lives., amplifies the voices, dreams, and obstacles inherent to immigrant women’s identities with the aim of building confidence and a stronger sense of self.
With support from the Amplify Her Foundation, New Women New Yorkers’ expanded programming will have a profound impact on the lives of over 800 immigrant women in New York City. The organization's commitment to enhancing workforce development, language skills, and community support will empower these women to pursue their professional aspirations and overcome barriers.
