SADIE NASH LEADERSHIP ProJECT

At Sadie Nash Leadership Project we understand that vital social movements are often led by young leaders willing to recognize and resist injustice, build solidarity with others, and take action to support their communities. Thanks to the support of Amplify Her Foundation, we will continue to be a space that welcomes young people’s innate curiosity– helping them explore answers to their questions about power and privilege and helping them act as agents of change.
— Tené Adero Howard, Executive Director, Sadie Nash Leadership Project

GRANT PURPOSE & IMPACT

Amplify Her Foundation funding will support Sadie Nash Leadership Project’s impressive range of leadership development programs.

Sadie Nash’s Summer Institute is an award-winning 6-week summer program for young women and gender-expansive youth currently attending high school in New York City. Participants attend workshops that explore themes of power, identity, and privilege; choose elective classes that focus on special topics related to feminism and social justice; build connections with leaders and activists who are trailblazers in their communities; and enjoy field trips to local college campuses and other sites of interest.

Their Siblinghood Academy is a semester-long after-school program, offered in both fall and spring, that provides the foundations for young women and gender-expansive youth to explore concepts of leadership, identity, feminism, and social justice, open to 9th-12th grade students attending school in New York City.

Sadie Nash’s College Readiness Programs provide young people with comprehensive support from mentors and peers throughout the college application process. Their Leadership Scholars is a specialized college readiness program in which 11th grade students explore issues of educational injustice, learn about historical and contemporary examples of student activism, and get a head start in their college journeys.

Nash U is a specialized year-long afterschool program that provides college access assistance to young women and gender-expansive youth who are in the 12th grade. Nash U includes peer support, financial aid workshops, college intensives, as well as college panels and visits.

In addition to their core leadership development programs, Sadie Nash also offers activism and community organizing programs that provide training organizing, such as facilitation, outreach, project development, and collaboration.

Their ELLA program is a unique fellowship that provides college-age participants with intensive training to design, implement and present original social justice projects in their communities. Participants meet for monthly retreats, and receive a substantial monthly stipend and project allowance for this competitive opportunity.

With support from the Amplify Her Foundation, 400 young women and gender-expansive youth of color, ages 13-22, in New York City will receive support through the Sadie Nash Leadership Project’s Leadership Development, College & Career Readiness, and Social Justice & Activism programs.
