MISSION
Felicia’s Promise’s mission is to assist girls of color from underrepresented communities to develop marketable skills, attain higher education, learn about career opportunities, and become financially self-reliant. Felicia’s Promise works to provide technical and non-technical resources and training to prepare young girls for STEAM career paths with communication, entrepreneurship, leadership, and other necessary skills. Felicia’s Promise is committed to being a change-agent, removing any obstacle that would prevent Black girls from developing necessary skills to have rewarding, purpose-driven lives.
GRANT PURPOSE & IMPACT
Amplify Her Foundation funding will support Felicia's Promise’s in-person and virtual mentoring and empowerment programs for girls of color in New York City. These programs will continue to address various themes, including college/career planning, financial literacy, civic engagement, coding, public speaking, women's health, and art enrichment as social justice/activism. Additionally, Felicia's Promise aims to engage in community-based activities to empower girls to address racial and social justice issues affecting them. The grant will enable the organization to offer one-on-one mentoring, group mentoring sessions, academic tutoring, themed workshops, college scholarships, and an expanded STEAM program that includes music to showcase the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Music, and Mathematics in everyday life.
With support from the Amplify Her Foundation, Felicia's Promise will empower 50 girls of color aged 12-18, along with college interns and women and girls connected to the organization globally. The organization's dedication to community involvement fosters a strong sense of unity, bringing together volunteers, participants, beneficiaries, and collaborators to offer mutual support.
